Absentee Ballot Request forms to vote by mail must be received in the auditor's office by 5 p.m. on Mon, Oct 24.
Absentee voting in-person starts Wed, Oct 19. Office hours are Mon-Fri 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. prior to Election Day, extended hours until 5 p.m. on Wed, Oct 24 and Fri, Nov 4.
On Election Day, polling places will open at 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. You are required to go to the polling place for your precinct to vote.
Voters are required to show proof of identity and residence for in-person voting. Proof of identity is an Iowa Driver's License or Non-operator ID (not expired more than 90 days), a US Passport, Military ID or Veteran ID (not expired), a signed Iowa Voter ID card (not acknowledgment card), or Tribal ID Card/Document (signed, with photo and not expired).
If your ID does not include your correct residence, you will need to provide proof of residence (current within 45 days): residential lease, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government check/document or a property tax statement current within 45 days of final payment date).
A voter without ID and/or proof of residency may have identity/residency attested by another voter in the precinct OR may prove identity using the Election Day Registration (EDR) documents. Qualifying EDR proof of identity documents include: an Iowa or out of state DL or Non-operator ID, a US Passport, Military or Veteran ID, ID card issued by employer, student ID issued by Iowa high school or college, or a signed Tribal ID Card/Document with photo and unexpired). If current residence is not on these documents, refer to the requirements listed above to use for proof of residence requirements.
