Two separate Local Option Sales and Services Tax elections will be held on March 1. Only Charles City voters can vote on Public Measure A and only voters from the unincorporated area (rural residents) of Floyd County can vote on Public Measure B. Residents of Colwell, Floyd, Marble Rock, Nora Springs, Rockford and Rudd are not eligible to vote in this election because they have a perpetual LOSST in place with no sunset (end) date. The LOSST for the City of Charles City and for the unincorporated area of Floyd County each have a 12/31/2022 sunset date, meaning the current 1% ends at that time and, if passed in their respective jurisdiction, a 1% tax would be put in place effective 1/1/2023 with the sales/service tax revenues applied as described in each jurisdiction's ballot.
Vote Centers will be used for the election. A Vote Center for this election allows any eligible voter to vote in any of the eight polling places listed below. All polling places will have both ballot styles and voters will be issued a ballot based on his/her residency. Vote Centers are:
