Official results of the 8/3/2021 election show Plan 3 takes the lead with 742 votes more than Plan 1. Plan 3 takes effect in elections starting in 2022 with electors voting for one supervisor who resides in the same district as the voter's residence. Voters will vote every four years for only one supervisor in his/her district instead of voting at large for all three supervisors per the current Plan 1 representation.
The next steps are for the board to appoint a temporary redistricting commission who will draw new voting precincts boundaries. Once voting precincts are approved by the board of supervisors, the state commissioner of elections notifies the state legislative council who directs the legislative services agency who will use the voting precinct information to draw the three board of supervisor districts.
